Hydrogeological study of Manantiales de Coinco real estate project,
O’Higgins region
Problem
The increasing development of real estate projects related to retirement plots near urban areas urges the necessity of performing hydrogeological studies to find groundwater resources for human consumption and ways to manage wastewaters.
The above mentioned obligates all projects not to affect, in terms of quantity and quality, groundwater resources that other users may harness along the basin. Knowing this, a hydrogeological study was requested to Aquist in order to check the relation between a possible wastewaters infiltration into the aquifer and groundwater chemical quality alteration of a well used for human consumption.
Methodology
Available information was gathered and analyzed along with a hydrogeological characterization that was carried out in the sector having in count field recognition. Then, the relation between wastewaters and groundwater was analyzed and a complete report was given to the client.
Results
Throughout checking all wells in the study area and field analysis, necessary data was collected to make a diagnosis about potential risk of groundwaters to be affected, defining the potential hazard of contamination.
Based on this, respective advisory was given to our client to locate groundwater collections and to manage wastewaters in order to guarantee its effectiveness and eliminate or mitigate potential contamination.
