GNL Quintero asked us to review and evaluate the existing records to estimate the aquifer vulnerability in order to prevent groundwater contamination due to liquid waste infiltration.

The target of this study is to verify the existence and quality of data using he modified-BGR method to fulfill the established “Liquid waste emission into groundwaters” normative.

To accomplish the above mentioned the following methodology was implemented:

• Analysis and evaluation of the modified-BGR method to calculate an aquifer´s vulnerability.
• Gathering, analysis and evaluation of geological, hydrogeological and meteorological information available in the area.
• Evaluation of the possibility to obtain data from prior other studies and their quality facing new data collection.
• Diagnosis of the necessary information to do the analysis and vulnerability calculation.

In order to pursue this vulnerability study, the variables were characterized and the information was weighed to estimate the parameters correctly and hand recommendations for working activities and data generation.
