Hydrogeological study to establish the location of a new source
of groundwater supply for the Drinkable Water Production System,
Chincolco, Petorca district.
Challenge
ESVAL asked us to carry out a hydrogeological study to establish a potential hydrogeological point to build a groundwater collection work that allows to supply a depleted system with limited recharge and progressive increase of demand.
Study
With that objective in mind, a complete review and analysis of geological, hydrological and hydrogeological records in the area took place complementing this with hydrogeological data from field work.
In addition, a geophysical prospection method was applied using electromagnetic probing (NanoTEM) and finally integrate all the information to set the location of the collection point and define its features.
Results
Based on the methodologies used in this study the location of the new point was set according to the major hydrogeological potential area. Also, a technical baseline was elaborated to guide the construction of the groundwater collection work.
